A Society of Editors Service

Anita Syvret
Director, SyvretMedia
Anita Syvret runs her own PR and Media Consultancy, SyvretMedia Ltd.
She was Editor of the Gloucestershire Echo in Cheltenham for 18 years, playing a leading role in all aspects of the business from editorial and general management to sales, finance and marketing.
When she took up her post in 1990, she was the first woman since 1939 to edit a regional daily.
In 2006 she was selected to the UK Press Gazette’s Hall of Fame: a list of only 40 ‘industry giants’ who had made a significant contribution to the regional newspaper industry in the UK in the previous 40 years.
For three years she was a member of the Press Complaints Commission on behalf of the Newspaper Society.
Before moving to Cheltenham she worked on the Leicester Mercury, Derby Telegraph, Southern Echo, Oxford Mail and Coventry Telegraph. She has also worked for The Sunday Times and The Observer.
There is little Anita doesn't know about the media industry, which can be a minefield for the uninitiated.
She knows how to handle the press, and what makes a good story, and has the contacts to ensure your good news is heard in the right places.
She has often been at the sharp end when bad news breaks, handling major investigations and national disaster stories in 30 years as a journalist.
Crisis PR and damage limitation are now her speciality. She loves a challenge and will see you through the darkest hours of publicity hell with sound advice and a steady hand.
Her media training courses are exceptional. She's an entertaining speaker who knows what she's talking about, and pulls no punches.
She is still a practising journalist and a judge for the acclaimed UK Press Awards.
